The best people to advocate for trauma-informed care and how and what works best for complex trauma are the survivors themselves. Life stories and life experiences, not only matter, but are our most important means of informing trauma care. The best care happens when trauma-informed and trauma-trained clinicians come together with their patients to listen, collaborate, and formulate what treatment and recovery would look like. Recovery looks so different for different people that our best understanding of it comes by directly asking our patients.
